Are you ever running out of items in the kitchen that you need to make, or forgot to buy something at the grocery store? Have no fear because there is always a replacement. Here at the Out Of’s, we feature simple ingredient replacement recipes. If you’re out of something and need it right away, look below for your ingredient. For now, we’re still adding recipes to the list. If there is something you are looking for, just comment below and we’ll add it.

No Buttermilk?

For 1 cup of buttermilk needed, just mix together 1 cup milk and 2-4 tbsp lemon juice. Or, instead of adding lemon juice add 2-4 tbsp of white vinegar. Let sit for 3-5 minutes in order to curdle.

No Yeast?

For every 1 tsp of yeast needed, add in 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1/2 tsp lemon juice. Add it in the same time you would for the yeast.

No Eggs?

For one egg just replace it with 1/4 cup applesauce.

No Sweetened Condensed Milk?

1 1/2 cup whole milk, 1/2-2/3 cup sugar, 3 tbsp butter, 1 tsp vanilla. This is equal to about one can of Sweetened Condensed Milk.

No Sour Cream?

For 1/2 cup of sour cream add 1/2 cup yogurt + 3 tbsp vinegar.

No Corn Syrup?

If you recipe requires 1/4 cup of corn syrup, just use 1/4 cup of honey.

No Heavy Whipping Cream?

For every 1 cup of heavy whipping cream needed, just mix together 1/4 cup melted butter and 3/4 cup of milk.

No Cake Flour?

To make cake flour add 1 cup of all purpose flour to a bowl and then remove 2 tbsp of it. Replace the 2 tbsp with 2 tbsp of cornstarch and mix. Do this for every cup of cake flour needed.

No Pumpkin Pie Spice?

For pumpkin pie spice, just substitute it with 1 tsp of ground ginger, 1 tsp of ground nutmeg, and 1 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon.
