Crazy Churro Chunks

Now, hold up! Churros? Really? Yes! Today we were feeling a little ambitious and wanted to make churros. One: we were craving them. Two: we wanted to challenge ourselves. Now you may be wondering, “Why ‘Crazy Churro Chunks’?” Well, our churros turned out a little “different” than other churros, but still taste just as good, if you know what we mean. 😉 Let’s get baking!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

  1. Start by adding your milk, butter, salt, sugar, and water to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Heat and stir using a wooden spoon until a simmer. Then quickly add in your flour and stir fast.

2. Once a dough is formed, add to a mixing bowl or stand mixer and cool for 5-7 minutes. if you do use a stand mixer, use the paddle attachment.

3. After cooling, add eggs one at a time, full mixing in between before adding the next. Once mixed, add dough to a piping bag with a star tip or Wilton tip 1M.

4. Heat your oil to 350 F and pipe 4-5 inches of dough. Cook for 30 secs- 1 1/2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Once fried, immediately roll in cinnamon sugar and place on a cooling rack.

Ta-da!
